Generally moving is precipitated with a memorable life event.
Our team brings more humanity and fairness to the NYC rental market. As New Yorkers, we’re feeling a solid communal feeling and camaraderie. Our enterprize model is peer-to-peer: every renter who chooses to list out their home with our company helps fellow apartment seekers by making moving less costly, friendly, and transparent. Concretely, renters who’re leaving can earn a good finder�s fee for introducing their landlord to another location qualified renter, which comes down to thousands in savings for apartment seekers. With this community-driven approach in mind, we�ve made a decision to rebrand our organization to some name that better captures our values.

Joinery is the art and craft of the joiner, an individual who brings function and artisanship with a home because they build its wooden stairs, doors, window frames, cabinets, bookcases. The photos and language created by joinery struck a chord around: we liked the thought of renters banding together to create a cheaper and sensible system of renting.
The rental market has been doing little to help remedy our anxiety once we move apartments. Over fifty percent of renters in NYC are paying 30% or more of these total household income on rent. Many renters have explicitly �opted-out� of utilizing real-estate brokers, either beyond financial necessity or beyond principle. The typical consensus among renters is the 15% fee charged by brokers?-?about $5,600!?-?is very misaligned together with the service provided. To prevent paying this fee, we have to make our way via a labyrinth of lease-breaks, roommates, and allegedly no-fee apartments.
